ST-Developer provides a set of APIs for manipulating STEP and other EXPRESS-defined information models. This is the documentation for ST-Developer on the Java platform. ST-Developer for Java consists of the Java class library documented here, as well as the EXPRESS to Java compiler, which generates class that use the ST-Developer class library.

ST-Developer is able to process any instance data of EXPRESS defined information model, as long as the classes (EXPRESS compiler output) for the schema are included in the classpath. The generated classes serve as both the in-memory representation for the STEP data, as well as a schema definition to enable late-bound applications to manipulate the data.
