How does AP-238 work with the other STEP
Application Protocols?
AP-238 is fully integrated with the other Application Protocols. This
means where information is common to AP238 and another AP it can be
processed using the same code and systems. A CAD system can read and
process the geometry in an AP-238 file because it has the same
definition as the geometry in AP-203 and AP-214. A CAD system can read
and process the GD&T data in an AP-238 file because it has the same
definition in AP-214 and AP-203 e2. The part features in AP-238 are
also the same as those in AP-224 so systems that can process AP-224
and AP-240 can also process this data.
How does AP-238 work with XML?
XML is a good language for processing AP-238 data. All of the AP-238
tools developed by STEP Tools process information in XML. The XML
specification used is defined by Part 28 of STEP.
