Standards for Mechanical Design, Analysis, and PDM

ST-Developer comes with pre-installed libraries for use with all of the STEP Mechanical Design, Analysis, and PDM standards. Of these, AP 203 and AP 214 are supported by almost all 3D CAD systems and are the most widely deployed of all STEP standards. AP 203: Configuration Controlled Design Used to exchange 3D solid models and assemblies, along with associated configuration control info. AP 203e2: Config-Control Design, Second Edition Used to exchange 3D solid models and assemblies, but also supports tolerances and improved configuration control info. AP 209: Composite and Metallic Structural Analysis Used to exchange FEA analysis information associated with 3D CAD models. Also contains provisions for describing part designs to be made from composite materials. AP 214: Automotive Design Used to exchange 3D solid models and assemblies, in a similar fashion as AP 203, but can also describe a wide variety of properties specific to automotive design. AP 232: Technical Data Package Used to exchange 3D solid models and assemblies, with a particular emphasis on the associated Bill of Materials and PDM information. AP 236: Furniture Catalog and Interior Design Used to exchange 3D design information concerning furniture design and installation.
